The Lower Bucks Center for Church & Community - Bringing Congregations and Christians together to do Christ's Work in the World

For Love Of Children (FLOC)

FLOC - For Love Of Children, is an ecumenical task force of the Lower Bucks Center of Church and Community that advocates with elected officials on behalf of children. FLOC members try to raise awareness on children’s issues in their congregations and in the community at large and to be advocates with public officials for policies beneficial to all children, especially the children of Bucks County and Pennsylvania.

FLOC networks with national and statewide coalitions to keep abreast of issues that impact children - issues like hunger, child care, early childhood education, welfare reform, medical and dental care, gun control, and violence. FLOC Advocates sign-up for hot-line email alerts so that they can contact state and federal elected and appointed officials by phone, email, or letters to provide a powerful voice on behalf of children, especially our neediest children. Become a FLOC Advocate by contacting Mary Ann Bentz, 215-295-2076, maben730@aol.com.

In its early years, FLOC focused on recruiting volunteer dentists to provide dental care to Bucks County Children who could not afford desperately needed dental care. Subsequently they worked with hospitals and community groups to establish the Bucks County Dental Project to provide dental care for uninsured poor children. FLOC still helps children who need help with dental and health care by its Tooth Fairy Bag project, done in partnership with school nurses. (To donate Tooth Fairy supplies, see the Tooth Fairy Supply List below).
